50 HOUR
YIN YOGA TEACHER TRAINING

In Yin Yoga, the focus is on releasing deep-seated tension by targeting the body’s deepest layers, including the fascia, ligaments, joints, and connective tissues. Unlike dynamic yoga styles that engage muscles through active movement, Yin Yoga uses long-held, passive poses to apply gentle, sustained stress to these tissues. This helps improve joint mobility, enhance flexibility, and release chronic muscle tension, creating a profound sense of ease and openness in the body.

Beyond the physical benefits, Yin Yoga also offers powerful mental and emotional tools. The stillness and extended holds encourage deep introspection, helping to calm the mind, reduce stress, and regulate the nervous system. This meditative approach fosters greater emotional resilience, allowing suppressed feelings to surface and be processed in a safe, supportive space. Over time, Yin Yoga cultivates mindfulness, emotional balance, and inner peace, helping practitioners develop a deeper connection to themselves and the present moment.

MODULE 1

Welcome & History & Philosophy

DATE

Friday 16.05

17.00 – 20.00

Saturday 17.05

13.30 – 18.30

You'll delve into the philosophical foundations of Yin Yoga, exploring concepts such as chakras (the body's energy centers), meridians, and the three bodies. Rooted in the ancient shamanic traditions of China and the Taoist philosophy of living in harmony with nature and oneself, Yin Yoga encourages acceptance, non-striving, and the practice of embracing the present moment without the need to change or control it. Through poses that apply moderate stress to the body’s deep connective tissues, Yin Yoga aims to improve flexibility, enhance joint circulation, and restore energetic balance. At its core, Yin Yoga reflects the true essence of yoga—balancing the flow of prana within to support both physical and inner harmony.

MODULE 2

Anatomy & Physiology

DATE

Friday 20.06

17.00 – 20.00

Saturday 21.06

13.30 – 18.30

In Module 2, you’ll gain a thorough understanding of the anatomy and physiology of Yin Yoga, learning how specific asanas influence the health and function of your joints and connective tissues. You’ll explore key anatomical principles, such as the 14 skeletal segments and 10 myofascial groups, which are essential for understanding how different bodies move and respond to stress. This knowledge is crucial for preventing injuries, ensuring safe alignment, and adapting poses to meet the unique needs of each student. Additionally, you’ll learn about the concept of functional anatomy, which shifts the focus from achieving perfect poses to honoring individual bone structures and movement ranges. This approach helps you move beyond rigid alignment cues, allowing for a more personalized and inclusive practice.

MODULE 3

Yin Yoga Poses

Friday 27.06

17.00 – 20.00

Saturday 28.06

13.30 – 18.30

Sunday 29.06

13.30 – 17.30

Module 3 will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the alignment, instructions, physical and energetic benefits, contraindications, and variations of Yin Yoga poses for both the upper and lower body. This includes foundational poses such as Caterpillar, Dragon, Butterfly, Saddle, Sphinx, and Shoelace, each targeting specific areas like the hips, spine, shoulders, and legs to improve flexibility and joint mobility. You’ll explore how different poses affect the fascia, connective tissues, and meridian lines, enhancing the flow of energy (prana or qi) throughout the body. For each asana, you’ll learn how to modify and adjust based on individual needs, using props to support different body types and flexibility levels while maintaining the pose’s intended effects.

In the last block, you'll learn how to practice and teach these asanas effectively, understanding how long-held poses influence not just the physical body but also the mind and emotions. This holistic approach helps to restore balance to the body’s energy channels, release deep-seated physical tension, and promote a sense of inner stillness and emotional clarity. You’ll discover how to use props like bolsters, cushions, and straps to enhance comfort and support alignment without reducing the pose's benefits. You’ll understand when and how to use props to accommodate different body types and needs, ensuring safe, inclusive classes. You’ll also master the principles of sequencing, learning to design balanced classes that target specific areas, support energetic flow, and promote physical and mental release. Additionally, you’ll develop skills in offering verbal cues, adjustments, and modifications to support each student’s unique practice. By the end of the training, you’ll be equipped to guide students safely and confidently through transformative Yin Yoga practices.
